A Letter from Reverend Leo…
Thanksgiving 2018
The summer has certainly blessed us with wonderful and warm weather, and now, the chill is slowly creeping over our area to announce the arrival of autumn. This season not only brings changes in the weather, but it also brings changes into our schedules as we all try to bring back some sense of normalcy to our every day lives. The same applies to our parish and our church family.
While the summer period has been very busy with property demands, we now return to our cadence of regular meetings, classes and get-togethers to move the work of our parish forward. This fall, this will include our regular activities, our continuing pattern of worship, and in addition, the start of a Sunday School (October 14th) and major renovations at Christ the King to meet Safe Church standards. It will be busy and exciting.
In this season of thanksgivings, we will hopefully set aside a brief moment or two in our busy schedules to offer thanks to our God and Creator for all the blessings He showers upon us. These blessings will be different for all of us. In our personal lives, these may include family, friends, health, a new relationship, new employment, or even a new home amongst others. On a church family level, it could include new energy, a renewed interest in some activity, or perhaps a new idea for ministry. Our lists of thanksgivings are endless – sometimes, we simply overlook them.
As your Rector, I offer my thanks for the many facets of ministry which takes place in this parish. We have a large number of people involved in this ministry, at every level. It is heartwarming and I find it to be a true blessing. Our work together as a parish family is what allows us to face the challenges and joys which we encounter. Together, we till this part of God’s beautiful garden. Together, we get rewarded by its results. Together, we offer thanks for our cornucopia of blessings.
May God’s love and blessings continue to lead us in our lives, and may we work and walk together towards the call which comes our way facing it with open arms and thanksgiving.
In His Service,
The Reverend Canon Leo Martin
